Endodontic Files and Broaches

Endodontic Files and Broaches

Endodontic files and broaches are the tools used to clean, shape, enlarge and taper a canal during an endodontic procedure. Often made from stainless steel or nickel-titanium, these instruments can be hand files, barbed broaches or machine driven files designed for use with either rotary or reciprocating endodontic handpieces. Often sold in a kit consisting of a series of files of differing tapers, these instruments should be used in the proper sequence, and it is important to know the desired optimal taper of a canal before beginning treatment.
